Wow, DD, thanks everyone for nice comments!

You might be wondering, so here is my reference for texturing [link]

---------------------------------
I shit over your BF3 Elcan M145 sights.
This is how real pros do it.
(fullview for orgasm)

2410 tris, 2k textures including Diffuse, Spec, Normal, Gloss and Ref

Wires here [link]

E:

This was a lot of fun to texture. I tried to get materials just right. The top is rubberized and the bottom is metal.
To get it right I had to do separate glossiness for both surfaces.

When polished rubber get scratched it becomes almost non reflective in places, this is how the spec was done.

To keep it realistic I separated lenses. Painted pure black diffuse with 100% alpha, very low specular and almost white reflection map(affects cubemap reflections.)

Don't get me wrong, you've certainly proven your skills as a digital artist, but the quote, "I shit over your BF3 Elcan M145 sights. This is how real pros do it." seems a little pompous considering that no game engine in the world can dedicate a 2k texture to the sights on a weapon.

That's just a fun; and well mostly because it's noticeable how much time they didn't spent making their weapons/textures.

Well I can absolutely agree with you about their textures; the same mediocre barrel texture on most all assault rifle barrels. It is pretty disappointing.

Pretty good model but I agree with the rest, the model itself could be better but dude, you did an amazing jog on that texture. I love those little speckles of rust and scratches. You could up the polycount a little bit but that texture is perfect mate

It could be lower, you're right, but I wanted to keep the silhouette very clean

It is lovely, but I found only one flaw. The vertical adjust knob, the big one on the side? It just kinda cuts into the scope. If I recall, the knob has a little cutout for it (IRL). Otherwise, I couldn't tell the difference between this and a picture proof unless you told me.

Can't say I didn't expect the wires to have such a low face count. You obviously know what you're doing.

Thanks, I planed it in advance, I keep a lot of sides on the front(or is it back) "ring" to keep the silhouette clean in first person view.

It still could be lower, but I wanted to keep very clear scope silhouette( front "ring" got 32 sides)

This is disturbingly realistic, down the the wear on the rubber, and the lettering. I feel like I could reach out and touch it.

I've played with these sights more than a few times...and I couldn't have even drawn a rough sketch of the thing. This is absolutely mind blowing. A+, sir.

Haha, Sorry : P I Never Got WHY Those Dials Were There, So When I Saw 'Up', I Was Wondering If It'd Also Say 'Down' XD'. I'm Sure No One Else Will Notice Though -As, Odds Are, In Game You'll Only See One Side-

Amazing texturing job. Every map is perfectly placed, making this one of the most realistic models I've seen to date. I especially admire your normal mapping job--there are some surfaces on this model that I would swear aren't normal maps, until I took a closer look.

Did you render it with V-ray? V-ray has this habit of making great things look even better.

This was realtime rendered(60FPS) using viewport shader, it gives perfect "ingame look". It's a great tool for artist to preview their art quickly in a game engine.
